Courtney Cantrell, LPC
When working with clients, I aim to provide compassionate and personalized psychotherapy services. My mission is to support individuals, couples, and families in their journey towards emotional well-being and self-healing. Alongside my therapy dog, Remi, I am dedicated to meeting your mental health needs through weekly, bi weekly or monthly sessions. Telehealth/virtual sessions are also available.
As an individual clinician, my services are tailored to the needs of the client. Services offered range from talk therapy, career counseling, play therapy for children ages 3 and up, and many other interventions to meet your mental health needs.

Life's daily struggles find us all. Since the 19th century, humans have found talking about our problems, without judgement or critique, gives the most basic sense of relief. This works for many individuals looking to ease anxiety, depression, grief and stress.

CBT is utilized to treat many mental disorders, relieve stress, anxiety and find answers otherwise unknown. Using CBT, a therapist can assist in working through thought processes, behaviors and actions taken and ultimately how we have become the person we are today.

Children ages 3 and up benefit from play therapy by finding a space for freedom to explore, create and symbolize their feelings. This therapy intervention takes more time than traditional sessions but highly beneficial for children with trauma, depression, anxieties and other complex difficulties.

Many children present behavioral issues related to anger, outbursts and misconduct. These can be rooted from past traumas, changes or instability in any living environment. Self regulation, coping skills and social interactive skills are a part of this intervention.

Couples and family relationships can become strained and disconnected. Making a commitment to attend couples or family sessions is the first step to repairing those ties through communication and positive self expression in a safe, neutral environment. This is common for romantic partners but also for stressed bonds between parent and child or siblings.

At times of crisis, early intervention can support the best outcome. If thoughts of self harm or harm to others is present, seek help immediately and plan to continue regular mental health maintenance. These interventions are more common than we think but can be reduced with proper professional support.

The therapy room is a sacred space for the child to build trust and rapport with the clinician. Following the original intake and aside from scheduled guardian check-ins, guardians will be asked to remain in the waiting area unless engaging in a collaborative intervention which includes the parent/guardian.
During the initial intake session, the clinician will gather information and decide together, the best next steps for therapy interventions and ways you may benefit from future sessions. Many clients research and network types of therapy that may work for them, feel free to share those with your clinician.
Remi loves to engage with people, especially children! However, she is optional and I completely understand instances of allergies or simply, being uncomfortable. Please voice any opinions prior to the start of your session.
